Hi Tabitha,
Please come on in and put your feet up, share a bit about yourself.
Thanks, glad to be here.
1. What drew you to writing and how long have youbeen writing with publication in mind?
I can’t remember when I started writing, but I have never stopped.I can’t not write – my mind is constantly busy and I’m, always trying to catchup with the physical act of typing it all up. I submitted my first romanticshort story in October last year – it was accepted and I now have five shortsand my novella coming out in July.
2. Why the genre you write?
I experiment with many forms of writing and always start with thestory – sometimes it’s a real surprise when I realize which genre it may fallin to. Mia’s Books is a paranormal romance which completely shocked me – I’vealways been terrified of ghost stories! Luckily the ghost in this book is a veryfriendly one.
3. What's your favorite part of writing a book?Least favorite thing and why?
I love, love, love when I am thoroughly engrossed in a story and amalmost having a love affair with my characters. I get so involved they arealmost real to me. It is an all consuming thing when stories are alive in yourhead, arguing, loving, living. I find it a very exciting process to be part ofand can’t believe it’s coming from inside my own mind! While I am editingthough, I have to divorce myself from them and be utterly ruthless – however, Istill enjoy that part as it always sharpens things up and makes for betterwork. My least favorite part is not in the production at all - I am quite shyand find promoting my work difficult – probably why I only recently startedseeking publication! However, this has been made increasingly easier for methrough meeting other writers – who offer encouragement and enthusiasm – which Ihope to pass on!
4. If you could write any genre you've never triedbefore what would it be and why?
I am going to write a steampunk novel. That is my next challenge.I still don’t entirely know what steampunk truly is but I think my idea doeshave some of the essence. I have also never written anything historical andhave a little idea working its way into my imagination.
5. What's your inspiration for writing your bookthrough Beachwalk?
I had literally justfinished Mia’s Books and was looking for somewhere to send it. I happened to beon twitter and discovered the call for submissions. I thought it would be aperfect match and I was delighted when my novella was accepted. It has been adream to work with Pamela and the Beachwalkers. I have learned so much about mywriting and am very excited to be part of this lovely burgeoning press.

Mia’s Books excerpt
The book had changed colors. Itwas now jet black and lay seductively by the bed. Gently lifting her sheets off,Mia slowly made her way over to it as if she were trying to capture a bird.
Her fingers were trembling. Coldair chilled her hands as she reached out and picked it up. Thick raised letterson the cover gave her instruction. OpenMe. And she did.
Rows upon rows of names andnumbers merged into each other. It was a phone directory. Mia was disappointed, but curiosity kept her flicking the pages, watching number after number fly by.She was about to close it and just go back to bed when she realized the numberswere all the same and the name wasn’t a name at all—it was another instruction.
Call Me.
Mia flushed with excitement. Wasthis her ghost lover contacting her for real? She reached for the phone anddialed before she could change her mind.
Silence.
Mia flopped back onto the bedand let the phone fall by her ear. She began to ponder the fear that she mightactually be going mad when a voice startled her.
“Hello?” She thrust the handsetto her ear and strained to hear. “Hello?” she repeated, barely able to breathein her excitement.
“Mia?” came a breathy whisperthat set her nerve endings alight.
“Yes?” she whispered back.
“I need to s…” The voice faded, and Mia started to panic.
“What? You need to what?Please...don’t go.”
“...see you.” The sound was sofaint that Mia had to strain to catch it. “Meet me at the park at dusk.” Theline went dead.
Mia was exhilarated. It hadn’tbeen a dream. She was going to meet her ghost lover once more! She hadn’t beenon a date in ages. Not since the insomnia had made her feel like a grumpy oldhag. She suddenly felt young again—young and ready for anything.
